Marefield is a hamlet and civil parish in the Harborough District of Leicestershire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 20. At the census 2011 the population remained less than 100 and was combined with that for the neighbouring civil parish of Owston and Newbold. It was the birthplace of Thomas Hooker (1586-1647), one of the main founders of Connecticut in the United States.

A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Marefield from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:

"MAREFIELD, a township in Tilton parish, Leicester; 7¼ miles SSW of Melton-Mowbray. Acres: 170. Real property: £934. Population: 28. Houses: 6. The manor belongs to T.Hincks, Esq."

Despite its small size parts of Marefield were referred to as South Marefield and North Marefield in the 19th century. It was a township in the ecclesiastical parish of Tilton. (Source: Victoria County History - Leicestershire - Vol 5, pp1-5 - Introduction to Gartree Hundred.
