Mahoning Township is a township in Carbon County, Pennsylvania, United States along the Mahoning Creek and Lehigh River drainage basin athwart Pennsylvania Route 902 about two miles west of Lehighton en route to New Mahoning and Summit Hill. Mahoning is situated near the northeastern end of the Mahoning Hills, the mountainous foothills region south and slightly west of the Poconos on the west bank of the Lehigh River. The population was 3,978 at the 2000 census.
