Macclesfield Rural District was a rural district in Cheshire, England from 1894 to 1974. The district was formed in 1894 based on Macclesfield rural sanitary district by the Local Government Act 1894.

The area took in the whole of the previous ancient parishes of Prestbury and Alderley. Macclesfield Municipal Borough and Bollington Urban District formed an enclave which was surrounded by the rural district.

The rural district was abolished under the Local Government Act 1972 in 1974 and replaced by the Macclesfield District or Borough of Macclesfield. As of 2009 the Borough of Macclesfield is part of the Cheshire East unitary authority.
