Lyneham is a village and civil parish about 5 miles (8 km) southwest of Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire. It is bounded to the southwest by the River Evenlode, to the southeast by the A361 road linking Chipping Norton and Burford, and on other sides by field boundaries. The 2011 UK census recorded the parish's population as 153. A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Lyneham from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:
