Longlevens is an area of the City of Gloucester. It was once (about 100 years ago) a small farmstead outside the city of Gloucester. The name is believed to be based on the old Roman name "Colonia Glevensis". Another possibility is that it was named after a row of eleven houses with long gardens (Long-Elevens). One of the oldest roads is 'The Avenue' which is shown on old maps as a number of farm cottages. The area is now part of the larger city of Gloucester but regarded as a more select area. The population of this Gloucester Ward was 9,532 at the 2011 UK census.

end of Wikipedia contribution

Longlevens was created as a civil parish in 1935 from part of the parish of Wotton St. Mary Without on the northeast of the City of Gloucester in Gloucester Rural District. The civil parish was renamed Innsworth in 1967, but Longlevens remains a community or area. On local maps Longlevens is south of the A40 road and Innsworth is to the north.

A Vision of Britain through Time states that Longlevens was created an ecclesiastical parish in 1932, taking "under one roof" a number of parishes around about.
