Lockington is now a village in the Leicestershire parish of Lockington Hemington (or Lockington cum Hemington). The village is close to the Derbyshire border. It was a separate civil parish from 1866 until 1936.

Lockington Hall in the village was the home of a branch of the Curzon family. In 1904 Henry Curzon of Lockington Hall was High Sheriff of Derbyshire.
