[edit] Research TipsKronsgarten was founded in 1793 as a Mennonite village, about 100 km. north of Chortitza Colony. In 1843, it came under the administration of Chortitza Colony. The village was originally settled by German-speaking Mennonite immigrants from Prussia. Early census records can be found in Mennonite Migration to Russia, 1788-1828, by Peter Rempel and online in the 1801 Census, Chortitza Colony, South Russia. Latitude and longitude are approximate, based on the description of the location in the June 2001 issue of Preservings (p. 113).
