Research Tips

Kronsgarten was founded in 1793 as a Mennonite village, about 100 km. north of Chortitza Colony. In 1843, it came under the administration of Chortitza Colony. The village was originally settled by German-speaking Mennonite immigrants from Prussia. Early census records can be found in Mennonite Migration to Russia, 1788-1828, by Peter Rempel and online in the 1801 Census, Chortitza Colony, South Russia.
