When formed in 1837 Kensington Registration District covered a very large geographical area covering the parishes of Chelsea, Fulham and Hammersmith as well as the parish of Kensington itself. The parish of Chelsea was separated from Kensington Registration District in 1841. Until 1875 the registration district included the parishes Fulham and Hammersmith. In that year the parish of Fulham formed its own registration district (which included Hammersmith in its area). Parts of Paddington parish remained in Kensington Registration District until 1885. These alterations are covered in full in the UKBMD review of Kensington Registration District.
The sub-districts listed may not all coincide with parishes of the same name. A number are neighbourhoods rather than parishes. |
