Hunton (#19 on map) is now a civil parish and a village in the Richmondshire District of North Yorkshire, England about 3 miles south of Catterick Garrison and 6 miles (10 km) northwest of Bedale. As of the 2011 UK census it had a population of 414.

There used to be a church in the village (St John's), which was rebuilt in 1794, but it is now a private dwelling. To the north of Hunton village is the site of a medieval village that it is believed to have been left ruinous either because of raids by Scots or because of the Black Death which occurred between 1346 and 1353.

Prior to the nationwide municipal reorganization of 1974, Hunton was located in Leyburn Rural District. Historically, it was located in the ecclesiastical parish of Patrick Brompton (#25) in the Hang West Wapentake.
