Hoddesdon Rural parish was formed from Hoddesdon parish in Hertfordshire, England in 1894. Hoddesdon was a large parish and included the town of Hoddesdon and a large rural area to the west and southwest. It was this rural part which was broken off from the town to be Hoddesdon Rural. It existed until 1935 when it was divided up between the town of Hoddesdon (an urban district since 1894) and the parish of Brickendon Liberty, an appendage of Hertford, which adjoined it to the west.
