Hedenham is a civil parish in the southeastern corner of the English county of Norfolk. It covers an area of 7.30 km2 (2.82 sq mi) and had a population of 173 in 70 households at the 2001 UK census, and increasing to 240 at the 2011 UK census when the population figure included the neighbouring parish of Thwaite St. Mary which had less that 100 inhabitants. For the purposes of local government, Hedenham falls within the District of South Norfolk.

A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Hedenham from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1871-72:

"HEDENHAM, a village and a parish in Loddon [registration] district, Norfolk. The village stands on the SE border of the county, 3 miles NW by N of Bungay [railway] station; and has a post office under Bungay. The parish comprises 1,770 acres. Real property: £2,516. Population: 280. Houses: 59.
"The property is divided among a few. Hedenham Hall is a chief residence. The manor belongs to F. W. Irby, Esq. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich. Value: £458. Patron: J. L. Bedingfield, Esq. The church is good; has a square tower; and contains monuments of the Bedingfields and the Garneys. There are a national school, and charities £89. Two Roman urns were found in 1858."

  • Ancestry.co.uk has the following lists as of 2018 (UK or worldwide Ancestry membership or library access required). With the exception of the index to wills these files are browsible images of the original documents. The files are separated by type and broken down into time periods (i.e., "Baptism, Marriages, and Burials, 1535-1812" is more than one file). The general explanatory notes are worth reading for those unfamiliar with English parish records.
