Information concerning Fort Upper Tract was published in History of Pendleton County, W.Va. by O.F. Morton including the list of the settlers killed in the attack.

Little is known of this Fort at that time in Augusta County, Virginia. Since there were no survivors, no oral histories were passed down through the generations. Fort Seybert which was attacked by Indian forces on the following day, April 28, 1758, had survivors and those stories were kept alive and written down by those descendants and became better known.

Fort Upper Tract was attack April 27, 1758 by a group of French & Indians, they captured and burned the fort and killed 22 people.

Pendleton County was created in 1788.
