Fort Bledsoe was built by Isaac Bledsoe in 1780 in Sumner County, Tennessee. On the 9th of July 1793 Col. Isaac Bledsoe and several others were clearing a field for planting when a war party attacked. He was shot and mortally wounded, with the Indians scalping him while he was still alive near Fort Bledsoe.
