A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Fallowlees from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:

"FALLOWLEES, a township in Rothbury parish, Northumberland; on the river Pont, 5½ miles SSW of Rothbury. Acres: 1, 547. Population: 5. House: 1. "

Fallowlees was an ancient parish in the Coquetdale Ward which also became a civil parish in the 19th century. From 1894 until 1955 it was part of Rothbury Rural District. In 1955 the civil parish was abolished and the area was absorbed into the parish of Hollinghill.
