East Barnet is one of the ancient parishes of Hertfordshire. In 1894 it became East Barnet Urban District, which incorporated Monken Hadley and Barnet Vale.

East Barnet Urban District was abolished in 1965, becoming part of the London Borough of Barnet in Greater London.

the following text is based on an article in Wikipedia

East Barnet has been since 1965 an area of north London within the London Borough of Barnet bordered by New Barnet, Cockfosters and Southgate. It is a largely residential suburb whose central area contains shops, public houses, restaurants and services. East Barnet is close to the M25 (the London orbital road) and the A1 and the M1.

History

From 1894 until 1965 East Barnet formed part of the East Barnet Urban District of Hertfordshire. In 1965, it was transferred from Hertfordshire to Greater London; and its former area was amalgamated with Barnet Urban District, Friern Barnet Urban District, Finchley Borough and Hendon Borough to form the new London Borough of Barnet.
