A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Dunwood from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:

"DUNWOOD, an extra-parochial tract in Romsey [registration] district, Hants; 3½ miles SW of Romsey. Population: 11. Houses: 2."

Dunwood was a civil parish between 1858 and 1932. It was part of Romsey Rural District between 1894 and 1932. In 1932 the civil parish was abolished and the area was transferred to the parish of Sherfield English. (Source: A Vision of Britain through Time)
