Dunavant is south of Leeds, AL on Hwy 25 and is about 20 miles southeast of Birmingham, AL. The town shows up on highway and other maps prior to about 1990. According to an Alabama Highway Department employee in 1995, the town had be un-incorporated. Some highway maps lists the name as Dunavant and at least one USGS map for the 1940's spelled the name Dunnavant. About 1995 there was a volunteer fire department, a church and mechanic garage. There is a cemetery next to the church and in 1995 there were no graves marked with the Dunavant name buried in that cemetery. Were the Dunavant's too good or too bad to be buried in the town of Dunavant?
