A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Debdon from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:

"DEBDON, a township in Rothbury parish, Northumberland; 2 miles N of Rothbury. Population: 11. Houses: 2. "

Debdon was an ancient parish in the Coquetdale Ward which also became a civil parish in the 19th century. On maps the area appears to be very marshy.

A Vision of Britain through Time states that in 1889 the civil parish was abolished. However, in another entry for Debdon reports its existence from 1896 until 1955 when it was absorbed into Cartington, the neighbouring parish to the west. The reported size of the parish when abolished was 5236 acres.
