Danby Wiske with Lazenby is a civil parish established since 1974 containing the village of Danby Wiske and the smaller settlement of Lazenby. Danby Wiske is located 3.7 miles (6.0 km) north north-west of the county town of Northallerton. [Both places are re-directed here.] The ancient parish of Danby Wiske included Yafforth as well as Streetlam, but not Lazenby. Yafforth became a separate civil parish in 1866. Lazenby had a separate history until modern times. It was historically an extraparochial area. It became a separate civil parish in 1858, and was joined to the ecclesiastical parish of Northallerton in 1867. Prior to the nationwide municipal reorganization of 1974, Danby Wiske and Lazenby were located in Northallerton Rural District. Historically, they were in the Gilling East Wapentake and the Northallerton Registration District. For more information, see the EN Wikipedia article Danby Wiske. Template:North Riding Research Tips
