A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Coedffranc from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:

"COEDFRANK, a hamlet in Cadoxton parish, Glamorgan; on the Neath canal, near Neath. Real property: £4,080; of which £750 are in mines, and £45 in quarries. Population: 2,151. Houses: 443. Here are extensive copper-works."

When Coedffranc was made a civil parish in the 19th century, it contained the further chapelries and hamlets of Capel Cwrtybetws, Cwrtybetws and Sgiwen (Skewen). (Source: A Vision of Britain through Time) It was then part of Neath Rural District and located to the west of the town of Neath.

The sub-section "Parishes of Historic Glamorgan" lists all the parishes of Glamorgan and the newer preserved counties and principal areas in both English and Welsh. (Currently this website is still under construction.)
