Chapel en le Frith Rural District served an area in the northwest corner of Derbyshire from 1894 until 1974 when it was superceded by the non-metropolitan High Peak District which covered a larger area. There were alterations to the membership of the rural district in 1934 when other rural districts were abolished and some civil parishes changed their names.
