Bushey was an ancient civil parish. It was divided into two by the Local Government Act 1894: the part which was within the Watford Urban District became the "Bushey Urban" parish, and the part which was outside became Bushey Rural parish in the Watford Rural District. Subsequently, in 1906, the Bushey Urban parish was renamed Oxhey, and the Bushey Rural parish became the parish of Bushey in the Bushey Urban District. [edit] Research Tips
