The hamlet of Borgue is situated 4 miles (6 km) southwest of Kirkcudbright. The 'Bard of Galloway', William Nicholson was born at Tannymas in Borgue in August 1783.

Borgue was located in the parish of Borgue in the former County of Kirkcudbrightshire in southwest Scotland. This area is now part of the unitary authority called the Dumfries & Galloway Council Area.
