Blaby Rural District came into existence in Leicestershire, England in 1894 and in 1974 it was reconstituted as the non-metropolitan Blaby District. During its 80-year existence there were some alterations to its makeup. Oadby was removed in 1913 to form an urban district. In 1935 some parishes and parts of parishes were absorbed into Leicester; at the same time it took in part of the abolished Hinckley Rural District.
