Biggin is a village and civil parish in the Selby district of North Yorkshire, England. It is 7 miles northwest of the town of Selby.

History

The name 'Biggin' is said to derive from "'bigging' which is Middle English for "a building" and later for "an outbuilding or an outhouse." In 1820 Biggin had a population of 164 people. According to a gazetteer of the 1820s, Biggin was in Church Fenton parish and in Barkston Ash wapentake.
