Belfast is a census-designated place (CDP) in Plainfield Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. It is part of the Lehigh Valley metropolitan area, which has a population of 861,899 and is the 68th most populated metropolitan area in the U.S. as of the 2020 census. As of the 2010 census, the village's population was 1,257.

Located in one of the earliest areas settled in the township, the village is believed to have been named for the city of Belfast in Northern Ireland. Its first families, mainly German and Welsh, came here in the late 1700s. The village was originally known as Belleville or Bellville because of its scenic view. The name Belfast came into use sometime after the Civil War.
