Belen is an inhabited place.

Belen is located along Cassidy Bayou and is the oldest established town in Quitman County. Years ago Belen was the largest town in the county, and was the first incorporated municipality. In 1883, it was decided to make Belen the county seat and so the court house was built there. In 1906, the county seat was moved to Marks because it was a more central location and had better transportation facilities. The court house was used as a school after the county seat was moved to Marks.
