From the Gazetteer for Scotland:

"Beeswing lies between Loch Arthur and a stream known as the Kirkgunzeon Lane, mid-way between Dumfries and Dalbeattie. Formerly known as Lochend, the village took its present name from an inn which was bought in the mid-19th Century by local racehorse owner, Robert Orde. Orde renamed the Lochend Inn after Beeswing, a championship racehorse which won 51 races during eight seasons. The village eventually came to be known by that name although the church is still called Lochend Church."

Beeswing was located in the parish of New Abbey in the former County of Kirkcudbrightshire in southwest Scotland. This area is now part of the unitary authority called the Dumfries & Galloway Council Area.
