From 1935 until 1974 (when the Borough of Broxtowe was formed), Beeston was paired with the town of Stapleford (2 km to the west) in the Beeston and Stapleford Urban District. From 1894 until 1935 a Beeston Urban District existed, covering the Beeston parish. Beeston was the administrative centre of Beeston and Stapleford Urban District Council and is the administrative centre for Broxtowe Borough Council.
