Araraquara ( or ) is a city in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. The population is 238,339 (2020 est.) in an area of . It is also known as "the abode of the sun," because of its impressive sunset and because of its hot atmosphere, especially in summer. The city was founded in 1817.
