Akin is located in Eastern Township near the eastern border of the Franklin County. It was designated as a U.S. Post Office on June 15, 1860 and is still active.[1] The community is comprised of a small number of homes, a school and a church. Akin also has a business or two nearby.
[edit] HistoryAkin Baptist Church was organized on January 14, 1934 and is still in operation. It was first named Akin First Missionary Baptist Church and met in the Akin Townhouse. A church building no longer in use, the former Free Will Baptist Church of Akin, was purchased for the new church.
