Abernethy and Kincardine is a joint parish, which lies in Highland Council Area, some 9 miles (14 km) east of Aviemore in Highland and 17 miles (27 km) northwest of the parish of Crathie and Braemar in Aberdeenshire.

Prior to 1975 the parish was located in the old county of Inverness-shire, which was replaced by the Highland Region and in 1996 by the unitary authority named the Highland Council Area. Parts of the parish were considered to be in Elginshire before 1870. No date has been found as to when the parishes merged.

The parish has an area of 320.7 sq. km (123.8 sq. miles). It contains the settlements of Nethybridge, Lettoch and Bridge of Brown.
