Watchers

Andrew, I have no objection to moving this online, However, I felt my questions and comments were not germane to the template discussion. What I want to know is, what leads you to believe you are I1-AS? Dr. Nortveldt at one time had a web page with several examples of panels of each haplotype that he labled as AS, N or uN, but did not indicate which values characterized the haplotypes as such. He has recently removed the page, I don't know why. I am not questioning your conclusion, I just want to know the basis of it. As far as the renaming of Haplogroup I1a to I1 is concerned, if I understand the naming convention, the markers (M253, M307, P30, and P40) that were thought to differentiate I1 from I were found to be present in all of group I. Also, if I understand correctly, since all four of the SNP mutations could not have occurred at the same time only the most recent is necessary to define the HG. Dr. Norveldt has stated: "M307 and M253 have been found redundant in all tests ever performed on them and made public. In that same boat with M307 and M253 are P30, P40, and over 20 more lesser known snps."--Scot 13:46, 5 June 2012 (EDT)
