Identifying Samuel Huston's son William [11 July 2021]

The proposal is that these records are for Samuel Huston's son:

William Huston sold land in Fermanagh Twp., Cumberland Co., PA in 1779 (without a wife's name on the deed) (Cumb. Co. D.B. G:125). A portion of the land was purchased from his neighbor James Gibson, apparently the husband of Samuel Huston's daughter Ann. William only shows up on the tax lists there in 1779. (James and William Sharon were also neighbors and are probably related to Samuel Huston's wife.)

One of the William Hustons on East Pennsboro Twp., Cumberland Co., PA tax lists from 1778-1785 (gone 1786). At one point he is William, Jr. (younger than Christopher Huston's son William).

William Huston of Barree Twp., Huntingdon Co., PA who left a will in 1792 (W.B. 1, p.38) naming a wife Agness, oldest son Samuel, and four other children. "Brothers" John Huston and Thomas Creigh are named as executors. Samuel Huston's son William did have a brother John who named his nephew Samuel in his 1808 will, identified in court testimony as William's son (Cumb. Co. Court of Common Pleas Nov. 1811 #16). Thomas Creigh was the brother of John Creigh, the brother-in-law of William Huston. (There's a good case to be made that William wife is Agness Creigh, Thomas' sister, though not all the evidence lines up well.)

There is also a case to be made that William's oldest son Samuel is the Samuel (1775-1860) buried at Silver Spring Church Cemetery, Cumberland Co. In E. Rankin Huston's genealogy he is misidentified as the son of Samuel Huston and Esther Waugh. Instead, they moved to Columbiana Co., OH and their son Samuel died there in 1839. Esther's brother James Waugh died without heirs and his extended family, including heirs of Esther (Waugh) Huston are extensively listed (Cumberland Co., PA Orphan Court, v.10). (It's not clear what happened to William's widow Agness and the other four children.)
