[add comment] [edit] William Hays in Pendleton vs. William Hays in SW VA and Missouri [30 July 2014]There appears to a problem in logic trying to connect William Hays, son of Moses and Sarah Petty Hays, and the William Hays in Blackmore's Fort in SW Virginia who married Daniel Boone's daughter, Susannah, in 1775. William Hays (son of Moses) files a lawsuit in Pendleton Co. Virginia in March 1813. The William Hays (husband of Susannah) removed to St. Charles County, Missouri with the rest of the Boone gang and is reportedly shot to death by his son-in-law, James Davis, in December 1804. Pretty hard to bring lawsuit in 1813 when you were killed in 1804 :-) On a side note, I believe this William Hays' militia service is captured in Mary Kegley's "Soldiers of Fincastle County, Virginia 1774". He appears on the list for Captain William Russell and is later part of Capt. David Looney's company. On David Looney's list, one of the lieutenants is Daniel Boone. --motohays 22:33, 30 July 2014 (UTC) (Mark A. Hays) |
