[add comment] [edit] Question regarding the California source given here. As well as both his place of birth and manner of death. [16 July 2019]Hello all watchers of this page, greetings! I have just yesterday begun to add a whole lot of 'new' information to this page on Sir William Cary of Cockington in Devon. And for this I have relied upon essentially just one main source. But I am very curious about the source, which had already been added to the 'References' section: "History of the State of California and Biographical Record of the Sacramento Valley, California" - for which I just corrected a couple of misspelled words. But please, what information lies therein about Sir William Cary, of Cockington and Clovelly (as Wikipedia has it). But where does his birth in Clovelly come from? There are actually other sources online, which say he was born in Cockington. Also this page has stated: "Sir William Cary, a grandson of Sir Robert, fell in the Battle of Tewksbury, 1471, under the banner of Lancaster." But 'fell' implies in battle. He was actually beheaded after the battle. And I have now changed that accordingly - along with much more as of today, 17/07/2019. In the text excerpts of my main source, Devon Carys Vol 1, by Fairfax Harrison, which I put in the reference section, I noted where there were footnotes. Some of which are quite extensive. I am not sure whether to include some of these here or not. And I still have to finish adding to that. And the whole book, in fact, is easily consulted online - and even downloaded as a pdf file - as may be discovered via: Source:Harrison, Fairfax. Devon Carys , which link can be found at the end of the reference source #1 on this page. Looking forward to hearing from any of you, who may have further information to share here. Thank you, Robin--Robinca 14:57, 16 July 2019 (UTC) |
