Person talk:Willam Swets (1)

Passport [2 November 2013]

A passport was issued to William Swets on 4 Jun 1920 (born at South Holland, in the State of Illinois, on or about the 19th day of June, 1870.) He was requesting a passport to go to Holland to "settle estate" --Jennifer (JBS66) 17:29, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

Could that possibly refer to his father's estate? --Pkeegstra 17:43, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
That is a good possibility. There is another page with the passport that says "...are well accquainted [sic] with the above mentioned William Swets, and have known him during all his life time, and that we were accquainted [sic] with his parents Mr and Mrs Hendrik Swets both now deceased..." --Jennifer (JBS66) 17:48, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
I guess his wife didn't go with him, since there's no trace of a passport application for her. --Pkeegstra 03:01, 2 November 2013 (UTC)
Sometimes the wife is listed on the husband's passport, but not in this case. He arrived back in the U.S. on 19 Oct 1920 aboard the Rijndam, and she was not with him. --Jennifer (JBS66) 22:26, 2 November 2013 (UTC)
