name [16 March 2013]
The name is not "unknown", it was never given. An unnecessary change. --Jrich 22:22, 16 March 2013 (EDT)
- And I quote from the tutorial on person pages (emphasis added) - If the given name is not known, leave the field blank. If the surname is not known either leave the surname field blank or type in Unknown. The system will automatically title your page in the proper format: Unknown Surname or Given Unknown. It might contribute more to the project if you spent more time adding new data and less time chucking rocks at other contributors.--jaques1724 22:47, 16 March 2013 (EDT)
- Only stating an observation. I thought the page perfectly communicated the situation before, and now it doesn't. It looks more like Family:Nicholas Snow and Constance Hopkins (1) where it was stated contemporaneously that he had 12 children, but names of only 9 are known. The others are open questions. This is not an open question.
- Regarding the Help Pages, they are still evolving. Many people ignore items from them, such as Help:Naming conventions: "When the surname of a family has multiple spellings, the most commonly accepted spelling should be used", e.g., Person:Mary Curtice (2)). --Jrich 23:49, 16 March 2013 (EDT)
