Person talk:Thomas de Holland (3)

Why are there so many redirects to this page? Would it be appropriate to delete some of them (those which do not have significant histories)? --ceyockey 08:24, 23 October 2008 (EDT)

There are tens of thousands of redirects out there. I wouldn't bother deleting or changing any of them unless I had a better use for the name or index position that was redirected, or the redirection source was a clear error - not any sort of mangled variant of the actually correct page it was pointing at. If it got to be a problem, I'm sure Dallan could run an orderly purge, which would be the better approach anyway. --jrm03063
I guess what I'm getting at is why there are so many redundant names pointing at the same individual, not that redirects exist - I think they should and they are, indeed, cheap to maintain. Just wondering what might have been the cause of the multiplication. --ceyockey 19:52, 23 October 2008 (EDT)
That's a tribute to the amount of duplication that formerly existed, and why after several months I'm still working on merging medieval aristocracy. Take a look at Person:Edward Plantagenet (4) if you want to see how much there can be in some cases. --jrm03063
