death date [4 June 2018]
I removed death date of Abt 1785 in Sudbury. My reading of The ancestry of Ezra Holton of Northfield says that this date applies to her twin Deliverance, based on the date of his will, which I find supported by Middlesex Probate 16910. I believe Thankful m. Benjamin Ball (at least according to cited source, and this information would be needed to find the death date) but haven't done the complete study to locate her actual death date. --Jrich 05:13, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
- The above source is focused on his direct ancestor Deliverance, and simply asserts the above information on Thankful in a listing if his siblings, i.e, with no justification or indication of special study.
- Sudbury VRs, p. 248, show two marriages for a Thankful Parmenter: 11 May 1727 to Ebenezer Hayden, and 173[torn] to Benjamin Ball (see original of the 1737 marriage, the next record listed is for Hezekiah Stratton whose first child is born 1738 so possibly the marriages are 1737, or thereabouts). The Thankful of this page would be 18 for the first, and about 28 for the second.
- There are two Thankful Parmenters, one the daughter of Josiah b. 1709, the other the daughter of Benjamin birth not recorded. Benjamin's will of 1734 names his daughter Thankful Parmenter and includes a clause in case she die without heirs, (i.e., still unmarried in 1734, Middlesex Probate 16908). She is apparently the youngest daughter, born after Marcy, so born after 1687.
- No further information, such as age at death, has been found to offer any clues. No record of a Benjamin Ball of Sudbury has been found, though there are Benjamin Balls in neighboring towns. However no further record has been found of a Benjamin Ball with a wife Thankful.
- Posted on Person:Josiah Hayden (1) without any source: "Two of childrens' spouses, Deliverence and Thankful Parmenter, are twins", which obviously thinks Thankful married Ebenezer Hayden, not Benjamin Ball. The presence of a daughter named Zebudah, apparently after Thankful's sister Zebudah, suggests Thankful might have married Ebenezer Hayden. Having ruled out the only other known Thankful Parmenter and showing she was available to marry Benjamin Ball seems to make this very likely.
- But no conclusive evidence either way has been found. --Jrich 18:13, 4 June 2018 (UTC)
