[add comment] [edit] There are two Sybil Brigham's [7 September 2011]Almost every website you find that talks about Ebenezer Goddard, shows his wife as Sybil Brigham, d/o Samuel Brigham and Abigail Moore. They both can't be true. Ebenezer Goddard was married to Sybil from 1736 until his death in 1762 and she died his widow. Zachariah Maynard was married to Sybil in time to have a child born in 1739, through to her death in 1778 in Sudbury. The marriages are clearly overlapping and so must represent two women. Many websites show Sybil marrying both men, this only shows they have not bothered to look at the facts. There are two Sybil Brighams. This Sybil Brigham, b. 1718, is presumed to be the wife of Ebenezer Goddard because the age at death of the wife of Ebenezer Goddard matches perfectly, and the marriage record of her to Ebenezer Goddard says she is of Marlborough where Samuel Brigham lived. The age at death of Zachariah Maynard's first wife makes her born 1722 or 1723, thus 4 or 5 years younger, and the marriage in Sudbury doesn't describe her as "of" anywhere, so presumably she was a 16 or 17 year old still living at home in Sudbury (their first child is born 1739). The raw vital records that support this are cited on Family talk:Zachariah Maynard and Sybil Brigham (1). --Jrich 23:38, 21 August 2011 (EDT)
