Two Sarah Scotts [4 October 2014]

The apparently well researched website http://www.themorrisclan.com/GENEALOGY/SCOTT%20Thomas%20F7866.html

is showing different parents for the Sarah Scott that married John Stanley. This Sarah Scott in werelate may not be the spouse of John Stanley.

Is there someone that knows these Scotts well that could check this out please?--Katharine958 00:20, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

With all due respect, not too many people would call a website that claims that "Sarah SCOTT. Born about 1637-1638 ... m. 5 Dec 1645 John Stanley" well-researched, since it implies she married at the age of 7 or 8. --Jrich 02:49, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
Receipt given by Ezekell Rogers on behalf of Sarah Scott in 1661, acknowledged by the executors Richard Kimball and Edmund Bridges. John Stanley's wife would have been named Sarah Stanley and the receipt would have been given by John or Sarah. This is a different Sarah Scott, d/o Thomas Scott and Elizabeth Strutt. Thomas d. 1654 and his son Thomas married Margaret Hubbard, then d. 1657. Margaret married as her second husband Ezekiel Rogers. Ezekiel Rogers appears to be the guardian of this Sarah. The father's will, two pages earlier, dated 8 Mar 1653/54 calls Sarah under 21 and not married, so clearly not the person who m. 1645 John Stanley.
Great Migration Continues has coverage of two Thomas Scotts and each has a son named Thomas and a daughter named Sarah. So lots of opportunity to confuse people with the same name.. You will find the Sarah of the receipt on Vol. 6, p. 212 and the Sarah who married John Stanley on Vol. 6, p. 217. --Jrich 14:46, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
