[add comment] [edit] Places mentioned [7 February 2015]Synwell is definitely in Wotton-under-Edge in Gloucestershire, England. Please note spelling of the town. Synwell can still be found on Google Earth. The parish church in Wotton-under-Edge is St. Mary the Virgin. I doubt if any of this family was born in the church, but they would most likely be baptized there. There is also a parish which is now a part of the City of Gloucester named Wotton St. Mary. However, since Synwell keeps being mentioned along with Wotton and St. Mary, I would reckon that Wotton-under-Edge is the more likeley place. I don't think Ampney St. Mary has anything to do with the family. It just keeps coming up when St. Mary and Gloucestershire are typed in one phrase. Huntington is another problem. I can find no evidence for one in Gloucestershire, past or present. There is one just south of Chester, but that is a long way away--as is the town of Huntingdon in Huntingdonshire. Sources would help. --Goldenoldie 14:54, 7 February 2015 (UTC) |
