Person talk:Samuel Semple (3)

Did Samuel really have 2 marriages? [22 October 2019]

In looking at the records and will of Samuel, it appears very unlikely that he had a prior marriage to Elizabeth Young. First of all, it appears problematic that he had sons Samuel in BOTH marriages. In addition, he did not name ANY of the children from his supposed first marriage in his will.

Is there any proof (records) to support an Elizabeth as Samuel's first wife, or is this just conjecture?

Would appreciate sources to support Elizabeth as a first wife.

Thanks,

Ive seen other family trees that suggest an ann scott as the alleged wife of Samuel, however I believe she was wife of arthur Patterson and she is buried in the donegal presbyterian cemetery in Lancaster. Samuel's 1st daughter elizabeth married Thomas gregg. Elizabeth named after mother. Is there any source of Samuel 's wife ann being a Scott?--Samples 59 21:47, 19 January 2013 (EST)

Hi There. Im new to this site , so excuse me for changing the subject abit. Does anyone know whether William Semple, Merchant of Londonderry 1625 , was related to the Semples of Letterkenny ? He had a wife Helen. He died before 1640. Also of interest to me is that he had a John Nairne, as a Servitor in 1625.

Any info on this William Semple & John Nairne (Servitor) would be great.

Regards, Kerry Nairn.--KERI 01:31, 22 October 2019 (UTC)
