Our Mayflower Connection? [11 December 2012]

1. Samuel Lee Hallmon (1893-1961) son of Jesse Newton Hallmon (1871-1933) and Mary Mariah Goodwin
2. Mariah Goodwin (1871-1952) daughter of James Homer Goodwin and Margaret Crotwell (1854-1912AR)
3. James Homer Goodwin (1849-1914AR) son of Mark-3 Goodwin (1806SC-1883AL) and Lydia Caldwell
4. Lydia Caldwell (1810-1875) daughter of Absalom Caldwell (1788TN-1863) and Hannah Hinds
5. Hannah Hinds (1790TN-1868) daughter of Levi Hinds Sr. (1765NC-1842) and Huldah Byram

The Byram and Hinds families came to Alabama in 1808 or 1809 from Knox County, Tennessee to and through Madison County, Alabama (then Mississippi Territory) when Indian lands were offered for sale to settlers. Descendants of those who arrived in 1809 or earlier may be eligible to pay about $20 (and provide documentation) to the Alabama Genealogical Society to receive one certificate as a descendant of the "First Families of Alabama."

6. Huldah Byram (1771NJ-1868) daughter of Ebenezer-3 Byram and Lydia Guerin (1748NJ-1828TN)
7. Ebenezer-3 Byram (1744MA-1827TN) son of Ebenezer-2 Byram (1716MA-1762NJ) and Abigail Alden

Eb-3 is where my documentation may be a bit shaky. There were several Ebenezer Byrams in Mass. and NJ back in the day, in several different Byram family lines. At least two of them and maybe more came south for land; others scattered about elsewhere. Still sorting them out.

8. Abigail Alden (1721MA-1762NJ) daughter of Capt. Ebenezer Alden and Anna Keith (1695MA-1775MA)
9. Capt. Ebenezer Alden (1692MA-1776MA) son of Isaac Alden and Mehitable Allen (1664MA-1727MA)

10. Isaac Alden (1660MA-1727MA) son of Joseph Alden and Mary Simmons.

11. Joseph Alden (1627MA-1697MA) son of John Alden (1598GB-1687MA) and Priscilla Mullins.

You know the story. Priscilla chose John Alden over his friend Miles Standish when John finally spoke for himself.--LulaBelle 19:14, 11 December 2012 (EST)
