Person talk:Samuel Fletcher (23)

Huh? [14 October 2013]

I am trying to sort out some Samuel Fletchers and I ran across this one. Born 8 Sep 173_, died 30 Oct 1749, and spouse of Mary Lawrence.

If it we take the best case, he was 19 at time of death, not legally old enough to marry.

Sources are good. At least they allow you to duck responsibility for questionable data.

Here's one. Source:Cutter, William Richard. Historic Homes and Places and Genealogical and Personal Memoirs Relating to the Families of Middlesex County, Massachusetts, p. 2:447: "Captain Samuel Fletcher, son of William Fletcher, was born in 1707. Married, September 17, 1729, Mary Lawrence, daughter of Major Eleazer and Mary Lawrence of Littleton. She died December 4, 1780; he died March 11, 1780." Is this who this page is supposed to be? --Jrich 22:42, 11 November 2009 (EST)

Apparently a case of son marrying his mother resulting from (mis)copying verbatim but inaccurately from genealogical notes of Samuel Smith in Littleton Records: "Children of Samuel and Mary (Lawrence) Fletcher: Samuel b. Sept 8 173-, d. Oct 30 1749.". This has since been corrected. --Jrich 14:49, 14 October 2013 (UTC)
