Person talk:Samuel Colville (6)

Watchers

Is the Will image shown on this page attached to the wrong person.
The image gives the will date as 1790, and the probate date as 1803.
These conflict with the dates on the main page. Either there's a lot of correction to be made here or the image is attached to the wrong Samuel Colville.

The will places Samuel Colville's property on Cedar Creek, which suggest it is for a Samuel in the line of James Colville (possible brother of Joseph Colville who settled on the Opequon near Yost Hite's Inn.

This is probably for the Samuel Colville who died 1777|1778, and identified Samuel as an Executor but did not identify him as his son.

The Samuel of the present will says he is of advanced age. He's probably at least 60, implying a YOB of c1730. He was probably born before the families settled on HIte's and Fairfax's grants. He says he got his 360 acre parcel directly from Fairfax, so we should probably be able to pin him down.
I have several Samuel Colville land actions in this area, but none that match up with a Lord Fairfax Grant.
The earliest I have is dated 1774.
A check of LVA land grant records might pin this down more.
