Ruurd was married once before Geertje Bakker. According to the IJlst bevolkingsregister, Ruurd went to Germany. This newspaper clipping shows a Ruurd Bosma from IJlst marrying a Helena Schlüter in Kettwig on 12 Apr 1899.--Jennifer (JBS66) 12:40, 5 August 2013 (EDT)

the Dutch Population register from Ijlst (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1971-30107-24424-73) says that he left for Germany in 1896 and came back in Jun 1901, was widowed and left 9 aug 1901 to North America[1]
