[add comment] [edit] Question regarding some conflicting birth dates and locations for this Robert Cary [16 July 2019]Hello all watchers of this page, greetings! I have just yesterday added a whole lot of 'new' information to this page on Robert Cary of Clovelly in Devon. For this I have relied upon essentially just one main source and one other, which supports the evidence of his three wives. But I saw that there had been previously posted somewhat conflicting information regarding his date and location of birth as well as a possible title for him. But with no supporting source references. It would be great to see where these possible dates come from. As well as where it says he was knighted. And as I have only found sources that have him an 'esquier', I have changed his name accordingly. Leaving the "Sir Robert" as an 'alt name' - as it remains without any source. For the time being! [These last three sentences added 17/07/2019] I came to him via his son Thomas Cary, of Cockington, Devon. And, when I saw that his, Robert Cary's parents as given on this page, were the same I had for him (from that main source of mine), I naturally made the link. In the text excerpts of that main source, which I put in the reference section, I noted where there were footnotes. Some of which are quite extensive. I am not sure whether to include some of these here or not. And the whole book, in fact, is easily consulted online - and even downloaded as a pdf file - as may be discovered via: Source:Harrison, Fairfax. Devon Carys , which link can be found at the end of the reference source #1 on this page. Looking forward to hearing from any of you, who may have further information to share here. Thank you, Robin--Robinca 13:39, 16 July 2019 (UTC) |
