Person talk:Richard Percy (12)

This page needs help. [16 November 2013]

Adjust the birth estimate on Marguerite Coney from 1540 to 1550 with no justification? Estimates should be explained. I agree 1540 doesn't match well with her husband's birth date (if you can believe his page), but her death in 1572 doesn't match well with a marriage in 1583, 11 years after she died, either.

A death date on 13 Jul 1641 on this page is for William Pierce, not Richard: see here.

Dabbing with estimates here and there is kind of pointless. This pages appears to combine a couple of generations of Richard Pearces, because the one that came to America is said to have been born 1590 and had a wife Martha, according to Frederick Clifton Pierce (not my choice of sources, but cited on this page so presumably what this page should say). With the caveat that I haven't spent time on it, I might hazard a guess this Richard is shown married to his mother, maybe with his father's birth date, and apparently with his brother's death date? If Ms. Coney is his mother, and not his wife, maybe 1540 was a good estimate after all? Clearly, this page needs a serious rework by somebody willing to spend a lot of time on it using good sources, not merely copying from other confused websites. --Jrich 17:20, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

The death date was removed. As mentioned above, it is found in Boston BMD 1630-1699, p. 11, belonging to William, not Richard. The cited Pearce Genealogy has no death date for Richard and none found. --Jrich 00:41, 6 November 2021 (UTC)
